Trampled By Turtles at The Jefferson Theater

I was honored enough to finally see Trampled By Turtles (with another great band - Hurray for the Riff Raff) at the Jefferson Theater in Charlottesville, VA.

What a great show.  What a great experience.  And of course since we were traveling to Charlottesville, we had to make a day of it.

ROB WON STUFF!

Concert time, in one of the most beautiful small theaters I've ever seen a show in BTW.  Alynda Lee Segarra, the lead singer of Hurray for the Riff Raff, has the most enchanting beautiful voice I've ever heard.  This was my first time really hearing their music, at all....and I was instantly hooked.  And have a new girl crush.

Trampled By Turtles time!!!

The show (and day as a whole) were well worth the tired drive back to Richmond.  Goodnight moon!

Church Hill Irish Festival 2014

This year, annual Church Hill Irish Festival took place on March 22nd and 23rd within the blocks from 24th to 27th St. on E. Broad St. (and spreading out into the side streets between).  Sponsored in part by Guinness & Harpe Beer and Loveland Distributing, it included everything from Irish dancing to parades to family fun (like bounce houses and arts n crafts) to 30 Irish food and beer vendors.  Everything a good Irish celebration should have!  Performers included Kent South, Cary Street Ramblers, Big Boss Combo, The Irish Dancers, Cook Country Bluegrass and many more.  Food was provided by Richmond staples like Proper Pie Co., Alamo BBQ, and more traditional Irish food from the Ladies of St. Patrick’s (“Irish Lasagna”) and Rare Olde Times Irish Pub (“Fish and Chips”).
Dishonoring my Irish roots.  I LOVE ALAMO BBQ (and Deeprun Roadhouse)

The festival’s proceeds benefit the St. Baldrick’s Society, the Church Hill Association, the Church Hill Crime Watch, Richmond Hill, Child Saver’s Clinic of Richmond, St. John’s Church, the St. Peter’s Meals Program, Stone’s Circle of Friends and more!  Look at all the great organizations being helped by a bunch of us just giving a $5 donation to hang out, drink, eat, and enjoy entertainment J

For the 2nd year in a row I volunteered with LINC(Legal Information Network for Cancer) to work in the children’s area.  It was quite an experience this year.  If I have time, I’ll definitely have to share a few stories about that.

My only regret this year was not getting a delicious donut from Mrs. Yoder’s!  But here are some pics from my awesome experience on the Church Hill Irish Festival of 2014.

Even Nutzy got in on the bounce action.  Just about bounced me out da house!

Got lucky and found the perfect spot to watch one of the stages - from chairs in a yard :)

3rd Annual Bootleggers Ball

What's funny about me grouping this in with the "I've been busy, don't have time to elaborate" posts is that this would probably have THE most interesting experience with drama at an event that I've ever posted about on here.  This is what my opening paragraph was going to be:
"So I finally made it to the Bootleggers Ball this year.  I think it’s important to point out that I don’t feel my experience would be an accurate foreshadowing of what your experience would be like.  So just prefacing with that:  this is not something you should apply or factor in to a decision to go or what to expect."

So how about that?  Oh well.  It was still a really fun event though.  And if you're more into the glitter versus the grit, then this is definitely the event for you.  Style and high class all the way :)

Here are some of my snapshots from the 3rd Annual Bootleggers Ball back in February at the Bull and Bear Club on the 21st floor of the James Center.  Stayed tuned for when they announce the date of the 4th Annual Bootleggers Ball.

My date for the evening, have a fabulous time

 Really fun band

What's happening...

So I've been insanely busy lately with work, volleyball, photoshoots (oh please, I'm not that full of myself, it's just a coincidence), lots of side projects, and the exciting idea of finally moving back to the city.

So what gets neglected in all of this?  My blog.  And all the cool events I've been to recently.  A lot of these events are now outdated.  You can probably find lots of blogs and articles about them at this point.  SO, I'm just going to post my photos and maybe a few notes about my personal experience just to get it out there.  Maybe I'll go back and get detailed later, but I have a feeling that since a lot of these events are coming up again soon, I'll just wait and post about the next go 'round.

'Til then, enjoy my photos bitches! <3
